I’ve been a bit quiet on the blogging front this week, but have been keeping busy with lots of earflap hats coming off my crochet hook…
I have been making and selling through Little Miss Emma since my first year at university in 2005 – it was at the very beginning of the handmade movement, when I just stitched a few things for my new baby nieces and then thought “I could sell that”. Over the past eight years I’ve gone from making personalised canvas’s to minky baby blankets to children’s clothing and now crocheted items. Little Miss Emma has evolved as my crafty skills evolved. This year I’ve been trying to bring a more consistent ‘brand’ to Little Miss Emma – little things like fabric and yarn choices or pattern styles have helped me to hone in on where my strengths lie, as well as what my customers are asking for. A Little Miss Emma style is slowly emerging, which was one of my biggest goals for 2013. I’ve been pulling back a bit, re-assessing and asking more questions of myself and my choices when it comes to Little Miss Emma.
Looking at my madeit store, looking around my sewing room, packaging up orders and posting them off all around Australia…it’s rewarding stuff this business of a handmade business.
