A Cream Chevron Shrug for Eleanor

February 11, 2016 by Emma

Truth be told, I think I started this little cardigan on my hook sometime about 12 months ago – eep! Luckily I did it in a toddler size, as I’ve only just gotten around to finishing it off after running out of wool, having to order some more from Yay for Yarn, and it’s still a little big for Eleanor. Phew!

I had this pattern saved away to one day tackle, and had some leftover wool from the wool I used for the pastel hexagon I made during my last pregnancy (I accidentally ordered the natural colour instead of the white – oops!) I often use Cascade 220, it’s beautifully soft but still holds its structure well and is lovely to work with. I think the Cascade Heather’s would look gorgeous in this cardigan pattern too.

Despite me taking eons to make this little cardigan, the pattern is actually quite easy to make up, and a little bit addictive with it’s chevron ripples. I did a single crochet border of two rows along the two front edges and bottom, making the chevrons not as ‘pointed’.

The neutral colour is going to be perfect for lots of little outfits, going with most things in Eleanor’s wardrobe, and the short sleeves great for Autumn/Spring in between seasons with a long sleeved top underneath. I finished off with a wooden button I actually had floating around in my coin section of my purse for probably a year also!

Happy hooking.

Pattern: Emmy’s Baby Cardigan on Ravelry.
Yarn: Cascade 220 in ‘Natural’ from Yay for Yarn.
Hook: The pattern is made for a 1 year old but I made it using a 4.5mm hook rather than a 4mm, making it more a size 2.
