Autumn Stills

// Yes, I miss our wide verandahs of ‘Carlton’ – but I do not miss the cracked concrete, rotting posts or ugly front door and windows. Our back porch situation here pleases me greatly (mainly because I chose those doors and handles and am quite chuffed with my efforts. Yes indeedy!)

– 3 // My green twitching thumbs are slowly being sated. Chrysanthemums are blooming, herbs and bulbs are being planted, nurseries perused.

// It’s finished! Finished! Our child won’t go without at least one handmade blanket from their mother. Hurruh!

// Projects are finally brewing for Operation Nursery. Stay tuned.

– 7 // The paddocks around our little farmhouse had spuds in them this year, which were harvested recently, then sheep brought in to ‘clean her up’ and now I have a procession of big blue tractors circling ploughing, spreading, sowing, readying for fresh pastures to feed some sheep (and then I’ll have gates to open, bugger).

– 9 // I am taking great pleasure in re-feathering this nest. Hanging light fittings and curtains which were purchased for very specific spaces and have been lying patiently dormant either in storage or under a bed in a far away South Australian limestone farmhouse. Similarly, Matt has found his happy place again in his shed, fluffing about making it all just so again and chattering excitably about making Blueberry cubby houses and billy carts. Bless.

// Speaking of Blueberry, we went to the hospital where we will meet our babe last week. A list was received of what to bring to hospital for baby, I have dutifully got all those plastic tubs of tiny clothes out and been sorting through it all. No insane urge to wash every tiny thing yet but I’m sure that will come.

// Autumn is here! Very much so. Chilly, chilly evenings and frosty mornings. Hello Gippsland, I’ve missed you.

// A baby shower house-re-warming of sorts is in the works. Minty, peachy, navy, sparkly things keep appearing.

// Bella. Oh Bella. She has settled in (reasonably) well to her new life of leisure. She really is a beautiful dog. If only she wouldn’t lose her mind in the morning when I let her off the chain and jump muddy paws all over me…or bark her head off at 4am.

// Stop searching! The chopping boards have been found! After a few weeks of using a chopping board out of the camper we finally located the box of boards in the shed (amongst paint and tools, of course?!) The little bakery in town here really is the bees knees. I love that Thorpy has a bakery again like when I was growing up. Potato bread – yes!

// I shot my last wedding for a little while on the weekend – and it was a beauty! I was exhausted, sore, tired, but happy and full of gratitude to be a part of it. I do love what I do.

Beautiful pics Emma! Bella is a cutie and I love your blanket. It took me back to when I did the crocheting/knitting thing when I was waiting for the arrival of our baby……

Such lovely pictures. I love autumn as well (although ours isn’t nearly so cold). I reckon as long as you’ve got a bed sorted, a baby car seat and a few clothes/nappies, you’re good to go 🙂
