Bump Watch

March 13, 2014 by Emma

As expected, with the moving and living in limbo until we move into our new home I have been super slack on the weekly pregnancy update photos, as well as the fruit-baby ones I was hoping to do weekly also. Most days I totally forget how many weeks along I am, let alone remember to take a photo, buy a piece of fruit/vegetable that my baby is apparently the length of or find my tripod in amongst the maze of our stuff in storage. But… while we were away in the high country camping I managed to get Matt to take some photos of me, all non-showered greasy hair and attractive comfy sneakers with jeans combo. Noice.

The second trimester of my pregnancy has been as everyone told me: easy, glowy, fit and healthy. Energy levels have been good, I do get tired now and then but nothing major, and for the most part (up until maybe a few weeks ago) I wasn’t even feeling pregnant – just normal. I do think I’m a bit bigger than ‘normal’ for 25 weeks but that’s all relative anyway. People have started asking me how long I’ve got to go, and I’m starting to get raised eyebrows when I say still four months! I’ve definitely ‘popped’ in the last three weeks or so in a little growth spurt of sorts.

The baby has been kicking up a storm, some sort of footballer or karate kid in there. I’ve been surprised with just how much you feel – I thought it would be ‘oh just a kick here or there, isn’t that nice’, not ‘oh myย goodness pipe down in there!’ with feeling every roll and twitch. Yikes!

Despite what people have thought, no we do not secretly know the gender of the baby, and I am honestly not even curious. People have commented that they think it’s a boy by the way I’m carrying it and have shown from an early stage, any other old wives tales you know of? Some days I’ll daydream about a little boy, or a little girl, and swing between what I think our baby might be. I’ll ask Matt what his gut feeling is as to boy/girl, he’ll put on a serious pondering face, tap his chin thinking…then say ‘well…all signs are pointing to a human baby!’ I think he might just be right.

When you are pregnant, people always have a story to share! So I won’t share. I’ll just agree that yes, even though kicking is a good thing, sometimes you just want them to stop for a minute!

A human baby! That made me laugh out loud! You look wonderfully healthy. I carried exactly the same for both my babies, all out the front, and I had one of each. So at least 50% of the predictions were correct! If nothing else the old wives tales are amusing ๐Ÿ˜‰

POP! Wowsers. You look radiant and gorge and SO very full of love and life. Love that first pic in the black and hot pink and green. Loverly. Come and see me soon so that I can say all of those inappropriate things to you in person and make you cups of tea. xx

Looking gorgeous. Don’t worry about your size…every one is different. I’m having my third baby and I look as big as your 23 week photo (except I’m only 13 weeks!) It’s a little embarressing ๐Ÿ˜‰
Ha ha…your husband makes the same predictions as mine!

Thank-you! I’m not really that worried what people say, couldn’t care less really, except when people point at me and say ‘you are definitely having a boy!’ I’m like well…are you some sort of medical professional with x-ray vision? Unless you are, your prediction is just that – a prediction. Pipe down. LOL!
