Tis the season to be crafty! So continues the Christmas craft this week at ‘Carlton’. Wrapping presents is definitely one of my favourite parts of the whole gift giving process, apart from you know…the actual giving part.
Usually my wrapping is pretty standard – no Santa/reindeer/Disney paper allowed, basic plain colours with nice ribbon, regular fare is always kraft paper, plain whites, bakers twine, with touches of red. I have always been against blue as a Christmas colour, but I picked up some beautiful blue ribbon at my local discount shop and it snowballed from there really…
Before long I was buying blue chevron paper (from The Reject Shop, cheap as chips and comes in other co-ordinating prints and colours) and matching with gold and red ribbons to create this years theme. I like that everyone can see which presents are from Emma under the tree! My nieces probably don’t appreciate the pretty wrapping, no doubt preferring the Disney Princess Christmas wrapping…too bad, I love it.
And of course I had to design some gift tags to go along with my new ribbon and paper purchases. I stuck with a white, blue, red and taupe colour theme, adding in both traditional and fun Christmas words and phrases – naughty or nice, star of wonder star of light, merry and bright, o come let us adore him. Add in some chevron, a deer here, a stable there, some camels and a moustache and I have eight unique gift tags ready to adorn my pressies.

Merry Christmas and happy wrapping! This week I’m finalising my Christmas shopping (after a present delivery disaster, my own fault, not the retailers, double check you’ve actually bought things not just put them in your cart!) and baking up a storm to take some treats back over the border to Victoria. This time next week we’ll be home with our family! Can. Not. Wait!
