From Little Things, Big Things Grow

September 1, 2015 by Emma

This morning dawned dewy and bright.

And fresh.

A new day, a new season. Spring is here! And with it comes new beginnings, fresh starts, big plans and the anticipation of what is to come. Just like in my garden, where the soil will be warming and new shoots budding to blossom – so too has this creative space I curate and share and love so much. It was time for She Sows Seeds to grow up, to stretch her way towards the sun, unfurl her new green shoots and bloom.

In my blogging hiatus over the past month I attended the inspiring Problogger conference. My mind well and truly exploded, expanded, absorbed and grew. So many like-minded creatives in the one place was all consuming, an amazing experience and inspiration overload to say the least. I learnt so very much, coming home bubbling with motivation and potential for She Sows Seeds. I definitely needed time to digest all that I learnt and discovered though, time to absorb all the things before re-launching into this Spring with as much bounce as it deserves!

And so – a new season, a new day, a new look for She Sows Seeds. Times, they be busy! Do you like my new layout? My pretty new logo? The lovely Betsy from Lemontree Calligraphy designed it for me, it resonates so very much with me and all that I want this online space to be. My new layout and design is still somewhat of a work in progress though, please bear with me as some links might not work or it may not look exactly how I would like, I’m working on it!

I know that blogging is quite often seen as being all about me, but really it’s all about you! It’s about the community I create here, the sharing, the chatter that goes on – that’s why I’m here, and why I love it. But for me to continue to do it well, I need to know how I can do it better. I’ve created a little survey for you, it’s only 10 questions so shouldn’t take you longer than a cup of tea. I’d be ever so grateful if you could fill it out for me. You can access it by clicking here. Alternatively, if you’re not into filling out surveys, you could leave a comment here telling me why you’re here, how you got here, what you love, what you want to see more of – the suggestion box is well and truly wide open! So tell me everything. Do you like me rabbiting on about farmy agricultural stuff? Do you want to see more crochet creations? Do you even care about what Eleanor eats? Would you like to see more of my patch of earth I call home?

Meanwhile, here on the farm it’s been typically late Winter in Gippsland – wet, wet, wet, followed by sunshiney days. The dams are filling, the creek is flowing, mud abounds and lambs are growing big and fat ready for the Christmas sales. Spring is coming, or is very very close… our pear and plum trees are blossoming, bulbs have popped out of the earth and my chooks are laying prolifically.

Our baby blossom is growing like a mushroom too, both physically and developmentally (look – front teeth! They’re new!) Each and every day brings new discoveries, new challenges and new milestones (for both Mama and Blossom). Just last week I was blessed to be at the birth of another chubby baby girl – sweet Audrey Jeanne. As I left her parents to wonder at their daughter and her fresh, new, amazingness, in their cocoon of the delivery suite, walking out of the hospital in the wee dark hours of the morning, I was reminded that from little things, big things grow. Babies, blossoms, blogs. Dreams, hopes and wishes.

I’m so proud of She Sows Seeds. But the best is yet to come…

P.S. I also have a pretty little giveaway going on over on my Instagram @emmasteendam if you’re keen to win some beautiful salad servers, handy pantry labels, new herb seeds to sow this Spring, coconut hand cream and watercolour notecard pretties.
