How Very Pinteresting No. 1 – Honey Roasted Peaches

August 27, 2014 by Emma

No secret that I am a Pinterest fan addict. At last count I have over 14,500 pins. I know! Before you think I couldn’t possibly keep a track of all those pins, I’ll have you know they are quite organised. Sort of. I do try to keep on top of them, and a lot of them are obsolete now (like all the pinning I did for our wedding which is now just a pin board I never use, but want to keep).

But all those pins, all that inspiration, all those recipes, all those craft projects – will I ever actually make them, bake them, grow them, sew them? Chances are not. Until now! I am officially making a concerted effort to actually take action on my Pinterest addiction! How very novel to actually make that delicious cake, to actually sew that cute dress, to actually try that tricky crochet stitch. I’m going to try to do a Pinterest project every now and then (a week? a fortnight? a month? when the mood strikes?) to share here on She Sows Seeds in the hope that it makes my Pinterest addiction much more productive, interactive and purposeful. Or something.

I’d love it if you joined in too, simply scroll through your pins (or mine, you can find them here, all 14,500 of them) and decide on one which you would actually like to create realistically. It’s no good pinning totally unrealistic, shiny, pretty things which you know is never going to happen. I try not to do that too much but am definitely guilty of it from time to time. But such is the joys of the shiny, pretty place of Pinterest – sometimes it is just pure escapism.

So, first up is something fairly simple – easing my way into this – a pin which has been sitting in my ‘for eating’ pinboard, one of those recipes which I quickly pin and think “Oh yum! I’ll totally make that!” and then promptly forget all about. No more! Proactive pinning is my middle name now! I give you…honey roasted peaches…

Simple. Sweet. Delicious.
Now scrolling through that mammoth ‘for eating’ pinboard I can think “Yes, I made that” instead of “I should totally make that”. Satisfaction ten-fold, plus, hello – peaches! Honey! Butter! Yes, yes, yes.

Original pin can be found here, which called for mascarpone (of which I had none) so I served instead with the always delicious local Gippsland Dairy yogurt. Get on that stuff, it’s amazing.

Off you go then, pick a pin and get proactive rather than day-dreaming about all the pretty shiny things…

Yay! I love this idea! I’ve scrolled through my Pinterest boards so many times thinking I have GOT to actually do/try/make some of this stuff.

I’m on board! This weekend I’m going to pick something, anything, and actually do it.

Yes to Gippsland Dairy yogurt, it is the BOMB. And Gippsland Dairy cream. Always in the fridge, always supporting our Australian producers.

I have a pin board called “projects completed”, then I just edit current pins of mine once I’ve attempted them. It’s very satisfying to watch that board fill up! 🙂

Oh that is SUCH a good idea! I should totally do that, very clever!

Great initiative, Emma. It is very easy to just passively pin pretty things but so much more satisfying to take it on as a project and accomplish something. Off to find a new project in my Pinterest archives right now!

Well that certainly looks tasty and I hope it was. I haven’t been on pinterest for a while now, it gets very addictive that is for sure and it is so easy to get very sidetracked and spend hours on it.
