Our Wedding

We were married in the early summer of 2011 – a ceremony in a simple country chapel, followed by a marquee reception on my family farm in our beloved rolling green hills of Gippsland. Our wedding was based around our love of all things rural and rustic, it reflected our lifestyle and farming roots. We DIY’ed almost every detail – from the homemade blueberry and vanilla jam favours for our guests to the lace and kraft paper invitations, the glass jar chandelier over the dance floor and the fencing wire light fixtures. We utilised a lot of family pieces in the decor like my great-grandparents oak furniture. Hay bales and cowboy boots were the order of the day, guests sipped on champagne punch in personalised bottles and played lawn games during pre-dinner drinks.

And as all our nearest and dearest enjoyed good food and wine together the heavens opened, a downpour of sweet relief from the humid day. Heavy rolling thunder followed, then a spectacular lightning show across the hills to accompany the heartfelt words from our best man, matron of honour and parents. It truly was the happiest day of our lives – surrounded by all our loved ones from near and far, celebrating the start of a new life together as husband and wife.
